There’s something special about every wedding, but Spencer and Megan’s summer celebration at Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio was truly unforgettable! Their first look, which might just be the most heartfelt moment I’ve ever had the privilege to photograph.

As a Columbus wedding photographer, I’ve captured dozens of weddings at venues all across central Ohio, but Franklin Park always stands out. Lush gardens, dramatic glasshouse light, and the perfect balance of nature and architecture make it one of the most iconic places to get married in Columbus.

Spencer and Megan chose a summer date, and the entire day felt like it bloomed around them — the conservatory was alive with color, from the vibrant seasonal florals to the green backdrop of the gardens. Their ceremony took place under a canopy of glass, letting in the softest natural light. If you’re planning a summer wedding in Columbus, it doesn’t get better than this.

The First Look That Stopped Time

We planned their first look in the palm house. The light filtered through the palm trees, and the moment Spencer turned around to see Megan, time felt like it stood still. There were tears, laughter, a tight embrace. It was intimate, genuine, and full of love.

From a photographer’s perspective, these quiet moments are where the magic happens. The raw emotion, the connection, the calm before the whirlwind of the day. These are the photos that couples cherish for years.

Why Franklin Park Conservatory Is a Dream Wedding Venue

If you’re recently engaged and looking for the best wedding venues in Columbus, Franklin Park Conservatory deserves a spot at the top of your list. Here’s why:

  • Gorgeous indoor and outdoor spaces which are perfect for any season or weather
  • Unmatched botanical backdrops. Every corner photographs beautifully
  • Golden hour gardens. Ideal for romantic portraits
  • On-site amenities and staff Making planning smoother for couples

As a photographer, I especially love how the conservatory’s layout gives us multiple photo locations without ever needing to leave the grounds. From the tropical Palm House to the modern reception space in the Wells Barn, every detail is well-designed for both functionality and elegance.

Capturing Spencer & Megan’s Milestone with Meaning

More than just a beautiful location, this wedding was about two people so clearly meant for each other. From custom vows to the way they looked at each other across the dance floor, it was a reminder of why I do this work. These milestones deserve to be documented with artistry and intention.

Whether you’re planning your own Columbus wedding or just love a good love story, I hope Spencer and Megan’s day reminds you of the beauty of being fully present in every moment.
