Capturing the Magic of Fall at the University of Chicago
As a Chicago wedding photographer, one of the things I cherish most about my work is the opportunity to explore new locations with my couples, finding unique ways to capture their love stories. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful fall engagement session at the University of Chicago, a setting that perfectly embodies the rich history and charm of the city.
The University of Chicago, with its stunning Gothic architecture and lush, tree-lined quads, is an absolute dream for any photographer. The historic buildings, with their intricate stonework and ivy-covered walls, create a backdrop that feels both grand and intimate. During the fall, the campus transforms into a vibrant tapestry of reds, oranges, and yellows, offering endless opportunities for capturing those picture-perfect moments.
As we wandered through the campus, we took advantage of the quiet, tucked-away corners that are so abundant at the University of Chicago. The lush gardens and hidden pathways offered a sense of privacy and serenity, allowing the couple to relax and truly be themselves in front of the camera. These moments of genuine connection are what I strive to capture—those unguarded smiles, the shared laughter, and the tender glances that speak volumes about the couple’s love for each other.
One of the highlights of this session was the way the fall colors complemented the couple’s chosen outfits. The warm, earthy tones of the leaves created a beautiful contrast against their clothing, adding depth and richness to the photos. I always encourage couples to think about how their wardrobe choices will interact with the environment, and this session was a perfect example of how thoughtful styling can elevate your Chicago engagement photos.
